California State Geologist
The California Geological Survey (CGS) provides scientific products and services to help understand the State's unique geology. Led by the State Geologist, CGS has more than 130 staff and a legacy dating back to the 1850s.
The State Geologist will also contribute to cutting-edge science that supports resiliency in the face of climate change, support watershed management and lead experts identifying valuable mineral resources across the Golden State.
The Ideal candidate will be a California licensed geologist with experience leading large scientific organizations. They will also have;
- Strong communication skills
- Policy setting experience at the state or federal levels
- Experience in setting strategies to address geologic hazards and climate adaptation
