RESERVOIR ENGINEER
May 19, 2022
David Childers
I am a reservoir and hydraulic engineer, with over fourteen years of industry experience in midstream operations. My experiences also include reservoir engineering through academic studies and with unconventional rate forecasting and resource quantification. I have a very strong interest in the physics of multiphase flow in porous media and how enhanced hydrocarbon recovery - through new technologies and completion practices - will affect both E&P and midstream operations. My doctoral research - under the instruction of Dr. Xingru Wu - focused on the Connected Reservoir Storage (CRS) concept to facilitate a more robust prediction model when evaluating gas, oil, and produced water from conventional and unconventional reservoirs. Through the CRS concept, one can - using only bottom-hole pressure profiles and production rate historical profiles - forecast volumetric production, pressure behavior, estimate average reservoir pressure as well as determine original fluids in place (OFIP) through deconvolution techniques making for a robust reservoir performance analysis. Further research interest extends to numerical modeling and simulation analysis and utilizing the CRS concept to accurately predict Stimulated Reservoir Volumes (SRV) as well as understanding the characterization of hydraulic fractures from stimulation. Furthermore, I have additional interests in the optimization of oil and gas gathering hydraulic assets through the understanding of the hydrocarbon value chain from wellhead production to compressor stations (gas gathering systems) or LACT units (liquid gathering systems) to pipeline operations, processing plants, power generation and third-party offloads.
